Beautiful high quality vintage 60’s-70’s Zuni six (6) section multi stone inlay Sunface link bracelet. Made by Morris and Sadie Laate, they have created a total of six (6) inlaid Sunface deities to complete the link bracelet. Each Sunface consists of turquoise, coral, mother of pearl, and black jet all stone-to-stone inlaid into a circular display. Three (3) of the deities are encased inside “flower pedals” or “sunrays” (varying to the person) in yellow shell pearl. The larger Sunface has twelve (12) pedals or sunrays with the two (2) smaller Sunfaces displaying ten (10) pedals/sunrays. The three (3) smallest Sunfaces are wrapped with silver bead wire. The artist’s have applied basically a left and a right which displays simply the coral and turquoise in each deity is reversed. Each sections or Sunface is connected to the next with a wide silver link with a pressured male and female thumb clasp.

The large focal Sunface measures 1 1/4” diameter with the other two (2) pedal/sunray deities measuring 7/8” diameter. The three (3) bead wrapped Sunfaces measure 1/2” diameter which includes the bead wraps. The link bracelet measures 7 1/8” with the clasp closed and will fit a wrist under 7”. Perfect fit would be 6 5/8” to 6 7/8”. The link bracelet is hallmarked on a 5-sided silver plate attached on the back STERLING - Zia Sunface Symbol. Morris passed on in 1987 and Sadie passed on shortly afterwards. They were known as some of the best Zuni artists in their prime during the 60’s and 70’s. The Laate’s collaborated often with well-known Hopi silversmith Preston Monongye. Mr. Monongye did sandcast and tufa cast work and/or silver overlay and his work brings in upwards of $4000+ per item.
