Large, heavy, and rare vintage Zuni/Navajo carved turquoise frog and branch coral decorated collector's cast ring. Yes, you can stumble across a few fetish carved frog rings, but rarely do you see them this detailed and this heavy. The artist has used a large heavy cast ring band to mount the detailed decoration. Carving a customized frog from a turquoise stone which includes an extended underside to set securely into the hand cut sawtooth bezel. The tan and brown area on the frog's back leg is matrix from the turquoise and not a flaw or damage. Opposite from the frog is a polished stick of branch coral also set into a handmade sawtooth bezel. The frog itself covers half of the face with the added three (3) silver drops placed between the frog and coral covering the other half of the ring face. The artist finishes by adding stampwork on both sides of the band.

The ring face measures 1 1/4" by 5/8" across with the frog itself measuring 3/4" by 1/2" by 1/2" tall including what's inside the bezel. It weighs a hefty 27.4 grams and is a size 10. The reason I've added "Navajo" above is that the stampwork on one side matches the hallmark used by Navajo artist Natasha Peshlakai. Since there isn't any hallmark inside the band, it could easily have been created by her and a Zuni carver did the frog.
