Beautiful Spondylus shell carved spiny oyster fetish necklace with olive shell heishi beads. The artist has used Spondylus spiny oyster shell to carve the numerous animal fetishes which include bear, fox, fish, rabbit, beaver, bird, duck, and what seems to be alligator showing the orange/red from the outer shell and white from inside shell. A total of sixteen (16) animal fetishes all separated using olive shell heishi. The artist has used black jet for the eyes of the fetishes and cotton twine to string the necklace. The artist uses a large Spondylus shell with the thorns cut off as the focal point of the necklace. The artist finishes the necklace using gold tone beads and shepherds hook-n-eye clasp. Spondylus shell is more commonly known as spiny oyster or thorny oyster.
