Beautiful Mexican silver overlay butterfly with carnelian necklace. The silversmith has created a uniquely cut butterfly and overlaid it onto an oxidized silver base. The artist adds wire antennae and hangs an oval cut carnelian stone set into a smooth silver bezel from the body that dangles freely. The artist finishes the necklace by attaching a silver link chain with spring loaded clasp from both wing tips to complete.

The silver overlay butterfly measures 1 3/8” by 1 5/8” across which includes the carnelian stone. The necklace measures 19” long end to end with a wearable length of 10” measured from clasp down to bottom of the carnelian stone. The necklace weighs 9.1 grams and is hallmarked with a logo which appears to be ATW - STERLING - Copyright Insignia. The chain has a tag displaying 925 - MEX which leads me to believe the necklace was made in Mexico, but I may be wrong?
