Vintage Hopi turquoise decorated sterling silver overlay tie clip. The silversmith has started with a standard alligator tie clip blank. Using a separate strip of sterling silver the artist cuts out a large triangle in the center of the strip along with cutting double triangles on both ends forming butterfly symbols. The artist continues by scorching the face of the clip to blacken the surface and overlays the strip of sterling silver that highlights the cut outs. Adding a smooth silver bezel inside the large triangular cut out in center. The artist finishes by cutting and polishing a Sleeping Beauty turquoise stone into a triangular shape and mounting it in the bezel.
