Item #898F- XLG Ladies Vintage Zuni Turquoise Needlepoint Satellite Cluster Watch Cuff
Extra large vintage Zuni turquoise needlepoint satellite cluster watchcuff. The magnificent satellite cluster cuff displays a total of one hundred twenty two (122) turquoise hand cut stones each set into individual serrated sawtooth bezels. Starting with the center displaying a circular cut stone flanked with a pettitpoint cut stone above and below. For some reason (possibly to determine the artist) they have added two (2) silver drops on one side of the circular stone between it and the pettitpoint stone. (before the silversmiths starting signing their work they would purposely leave some sort of mark not very noticeable like missing partial stamp or such to tell the other artists who made the piece). The artist encircles the three (3) center stones with twisted wire. Between this twisted wire and the next twisted wire hoop the artist has installed a partial satellite cluster of twenty five (25) turquoise needlepoint stones. Between the next set of twisted wire hoops the artist has installed sixteen (16) sheet silver arches. Along the outer rim of the cuff the artist installs sixty three (63) turquoise needlepoint stones in a satellite cluster with a silver drop at the tip of each stone. The opposite side of the watch setting the artist mounts two (2) pettitpoint stone and silver drops inside a twisted wire with a satellite cluster of fourteen (14) needlepoint stone with silver drops at the end tips. All mounted to a separate sheet of base silver. The side where the watch would be mounted the artist installs fifteen (15) needlepoint stones with silver drops. The area for the watch has been framed with twisted wire with silver strips to mount the watch and watch guards displaying three (3) wire teardrops on both watch guards. The silver sheet base for the watch is all part of the original sheet base. Not a separate sheet base like the opposite side. The main decoration and the separate side decoration has been mounted to a triple half round wire cuff which have been soldered together and hammered flat on both ends. The center cuff wire has been cut into two pieces right behind where the watch mounts. I take it the artist did that to allow some flexibility in the sheet silver for mounting the watch.
