Beautiful vintage Zuni three strand seventy two piece carved shell bird fetish necklace! The necklace consists of seventy two (72) hand carved birds of different shapes and sizes strung over the course of three (3) strands. Each strand graduates in length with one strand having twenty six (26) birds, the next strand having twenty four (24) birds, and the final strand having twenty two (22) birds. None of the bird fetishes are broken although some of the birds don't have tails like the others. The artist has used 3mm heshi beads to separate the birds and create the strands. I'm not sure what type of shell has been used, but both the fetishes and the heshi beads are made from the same type shell. All strung on light gauge bead wire and are ran through and old hand rolled silver side seamed bead on each end and connected together to a hook-n-eye clasp.

The strands are different lengths with the shortest measuring approximately 25" end to end and a wearable length of 14" long. It weighs 57.8 grams (2.04 ounces). I would place the necklace being made somewhere between the 1970's to 1990's. Beautiful hand crafted necklace!  $189.95
